Situated in the heart of the buzzing Victoria &Alfred Waterfront is the very glamorous One&Only Cape Town. Despite its central location, this exceptional property exudes solitude and tranquillity with giant palm trees and lush tropical gardens, beautiful winding waterways and infinity pools. This 131 room hotel also boasts two man-made islands, one for the biggest spa in Cape Town and the other for a series of villa-style resort accommodation.
It’s no surprise celebrities, statesmen, jet-setters and style-conscious travellers are regulars here. The staff and the concierge team deserve a special mention – they were always ready to help with a smile and we loved that! Get ready to experience an unforgettable unprecedented level of luxury in South Africa.
After hearing so much about the multi-award winning One&Only Spa Cape Town (located on the spa island), despite our busy schedule, we just had to book ourselves in for an appointment. The spa boasts 10 beautiful and state-of-the-art treatment rooms including two couples suites, a scenic relaxation room, sauna and steam as well as experience showers. I tried the 80-minutes Unwind Massage which reduced tension in my muscles and sent me into a state of bliss. It was just what I needed after a long day of sightseeing. If you have a dinner to go and want to get dressed up, the property’s full-service salon including the Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio by Bastien Gonzalez, and hair styling by South African’s own Wayne Gates will make sure you look absolutely fabulous.
THE POOL & GYM
The hotel is also home to a 350-square-metre free-form, heated (excluding May to September) infinity-edge pool complete with double chaise lounges and shaded pavilions, as well as a poolside restaurant. Open daily from 6am to 8pm, whether it’s yoga, Pilates, training or a cardio workout, you can do it all at the seriously well-equipped gym here.
Our Marina Mountain room was massive to say the least. From the moment we stepped into our luxurious room which had a huge terrace, our eyes were drawn to the magnificent Table Mountain. What a spectacular sight right! The African yet contemporary styled room came with a Nespresso machine, complimentary Wi-Fi, a huge flat screen TV and a Bose sound system along with a variety of local snacks and fruit. We especially loved the pillow menu and our comfy bed which was topped with thick down covers. That’s not all the bathrooms were equally generously proportioned with a stand-alone bath, a large walk-in shower and enough closet space to make every woman happy.
